Although it's not quite the perfect privacy-protection tool, this application hits most of the right notes. Privacy Watcher's interface is well-organized, separating its cleaning options, settings, and miscellaneous tools in different sections. It's nice that the program can eradicate your Web-surfing tracks from a few browsers, including Internet Explorer, Netscape, and Opera. In addition to cleaning traces from common Windows system areas, Privacy Watcher also can tidy up certain third-party programs, although the number of applications it supports is far from comprehensive. The file shredder is a welcome inclusion but could be improved with the addition of several government-sanctioned deletion algorithms. We were surpised but happy to find a basic encryption utility, which locks down files using Blowfish security. Nevertheless, we would like the ability to schedule cleaning sessions. All told, this application offers enough security for almost all computer users.
