Multitasking has certainly become easier and smoother, thanks to the powerful computers with ample of RAM and processor power at your disposal. These days, users can easily have four to five applications running simultaneously in perfect harmony. And within those applications one can also work on multiple files or browser windows to minimize time and efficiency. Managing multiple applications at one go can get to you, with the task bar cluttered all the time. ManageDesk as the name suggests, is an Award-winning virtual desktop manager, which assures that multitasking is more effective and time saving.

Features and performance

The possibility of having multiple desktops with each of them running separate applications is really cool. Ideally one can have four virtual desktops running simultaneously. While working on multiple applications, user can actually assign a separate desktop for every application; this makes the job easier and gives a lot of breathing space for the taskbar as well. For example, users can create four different virtual desktops called Workspace, Documents, Internet and Games. Using ManageDesk they can open an email program on Workspace virtual desktop, several Internet sessions on the Internet virtual desktop, multiple documents on the Documents virtual desktop and some games on the Games virtual desktop. There are several ways of accessing and switching between desktops. You can switch among them quickly and easily with just a single mouse click. Each virtual desktop is a distinct work environment. The taskbar shows only the applications open on the current virtual desktop, which greatly reduces clutter.

Efficiency and convenience is certainly the main purpose, but it doesn't stop there. Customizing each desktop environment with a unique background for each one of them is a treat. Each virtual desktop can have its own refresh rates, resolutions and desktop name. Drag and drop applications from one desktop to another if you feel like or simply close a virtual desktop if needed. This one can also kill processes or change priority of applications. One can use the transparency effects and make the desktop partially transparent. The Shortcut keys for every virtual desktop help you launch applications in a jiffy.

Conclusion

Anybody looking for a desktop manager should certainly give this one a shot; it's a humble 1MB download. This virtual desktop manager is simple and compact as well as very stable and robust in operation. The user interface is lucid and friendly. ManageDesk is a very useful tool for multitasking, which makes computing more organized. It's a shareware, which is fully functional for 30 days. It's a pity that ManageDesk is not a freeware.

Pros: User-friendly, Powerful, Very effective.
Cons: Expensive.
Rating: 4/5
